Other Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers at Rescue Houston have the unique opportunity for direct engagement and interaction with women and men who have been sex trafficked and/or sexually exploited. Because of the highly sensitive nature of the services we provide, we require all volunteers to first serve at one or more phone bank outreach events before pursuing client-facing volunteer opportunities.
If you have been trained and served as a phone bank volunteer, you are eligible to create a login to begin the application process online. Soon after your application is received, a member of the Rescue Houston team will contact you to inform you of the next orientation and training event available to prospective hotline advocates, exit team members, and exit path mentors.
Pursuing a degree in counseling, social work, criminal justice, or a related field? Experience with Rescue Houston could be beneficial to you, our organization, and those we serve. Email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know you’d like to use your skills to support our work!
Respond to our 24/7 hotline and be the voice of peace that answers when victims stir up the courage to make the call and exit the life. We conveniently forward hotline calls to your cell phone so that victims have immediate response and rescue available to them at any time, day or night.
Members of the exit team are the cavalry and first “faces” of Rescue Houston. Join a team or form a team* of your own that is committed to providing prompt, secure pickup and transportation to an assessment center or transitional safe home shelter as directed by the new client’s advocate.
Exit Path Mentor
Exit path mentors lovingly walk alongside survivors during their assessment and stabilization process—facilitating services, accommodating transportation to appointments, and providing them with trauma-informed care and guidance.
*Exit Teams must be mixed-gender.
